Description |
1 B/W aerial photo of the aft section of the tanker FORT DEARBORN being towed by the AGNES FOSS (out of frame). The FORT DEARBORN broke into two sections 800 miles northwest of Honolulu in March 1947. The surviving aft section contained intact machinery that was used by the Hilo Electric Light Company as a municipal power plant until 1951, when Captain Ray Quinn of the AGNES FOSS retrieved the FORT DEARBORN from Honolulu and towed the tanker to be scrapped by National Iron Company of Long Beach, California. |
