AGNES FOSS |
Description |
1 B/W aerial photo of the aft section (about 210 feet long) of tanker FORT DEARBORN in tow of AGNES FOSS. The aft section survived after the tanker FORT DEARBORN broke into two sections 800 miles northwest of Honolulu in March 1947. This aft section contained intact machinery that was used by the Hilo Electric Light Company as a municipal power plant until 1951, when Captain Ray Quinn of the AGNES FOSS retrieved the FORT DEARBORN from Honolulu and towed the tanker to be scrapped by National Iron Company of Long Beach, California. |
